William Berczy led the group of German settlers who arrived in what became Markham in 1794, and the community north of 16th Avenue carries his name. The modern subdivision is much newer. Viva buses along Highway 7 connect west to Richmond Hill Centre, where the Yonge North Subway Extension will eventually end. That line is expected to take about a decade to complete.

Berczy usually has a smaller supply of townhouses than Cornell, so watch for listings over several weeks and compare them with nearby Angus Glen and Wismer, which share similar housing.
