Townhouses For Sale in Hurontario, Mississauga

The Hurontario area north of the city centre was farmland until the late 1980s and is now a dense mix of detached homes, townhouse complexes and condo towers along Hurontario Street, Bristol Road and Britannia Road. The new Hazel McCallion LRT runs through it, and the 401 is minutes away, which makes this one of the most commuter-oriented townhouse pockets in the city.

Buying a townhouse in Hurontario

There are 35 townhouses for sale in Hurontario right now, priced from $400,000 to $1,429,000. Half are listed under $740,000. By style, that is 20 2-storey townhouses, 13 3-storey townhouses, 2 stacked townhouses.

If you are buying a condo townhouse, have a lawyer review the status certificate before your offer goes firm. It shows the reserve fund, the rules and any special assessments on the way. A townhouse specialist can pull recent sales on the same street or in the same complex so you know what a fair price looks like.

Hurontario townhouse guide

Bristol Road complexes and newer freehold rows

Development here started in the late 1980s and continued in phases, so the townhouse stock runs from older condo complexes to newer freehold rows. Several condo townhouse complexes cluster along Bristol Road East near Hurontario Street, and there are two- and three-storey freehold and POTL towns on the side streets.

Typical homes have brick fronts, garages and three or four bedrooms. In condo complexes, check what the fee covers; complexes of this age often include exterior maintenance, grounds and snow clearing, and some include water.

Because the area grew in stages, two complexes a few hundred metres apart can be a decade or more apart in age. That affects how far along each one is in its replacement cycle, so compare reserve fund studies rather than assuming neighbouring complexes are in the same shape.

Living on the Hazel McCallion Line

The LRT runs along Hurontario Street right through the area, connecting south to the city centre and Port Credit GO and north to the Brampton Gateway Terminal. It has been delayed well past its original late-2024 target and no firm opening date has been confirmed.

A unit within a short walk of a Hurontario stop will likely benefit once the line is running, but construction has meant years of lane closures and detours. If you are buying close to the street, consider noise from trains and traffic, and look at how the unit is oriented.

Once the line opens, it should make trips to Square One and Port Credit much simpler without a car.

401 access, Heartland and Britannia Farm

Easy access to Highway 401 is the main draw for drivers here, and the 403 and 410 are also close. Heartland Town Centre, a large outdoor power centre at Mavis and Britannia, covers most daily shopping, and smaller plazas line the main roads.

Britannia Farm, a roughly 200-acre property held in trust by the Peel District School Board for educational use, is the largest green space nearby. Otherwise park space is more limited than in older planned areas, so check what is within walking distance of a specific complex.

Peel District School Board and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board both run schools in the area. Because the neighbourhood grew in phases, school boundaries have shifted over time, so confirm which schools serve a specific address directly with the boards rather than relying on a listing.

Who the Hurontario corridor suits, and what to weigh

This part of the city fits buyers who put access first: people driving to jobs along the 401 and the airport corridor, households that want a short ride to the city centre, and investors looking at rental demand near a future rapid transit line.

The trade-offs are traffic, noise and density. Hurontario Street is one of the busiest roads in the city, and much of the surrounding land is commercial or industrial. Units on interior courts or quieter side streets usually feel very different from those facing the main roads.

Before buying, check:

  • Which side of the complex the unit faces, and how close it is to the LRT tracks.
  • Whether visitor parking is adequate; overflow parking on public streets is restricted.
  • Any development applications on nearby commercial sites, since intensification along the LRT corridor is encouraged by the city.

What buyers ask about Hurontario

Will the LRT stop near townhouses in the Hurontario area?

The line runs along Hurontario Street through the neighbourhood, so complexes close to that street will be within walking distance of a stop. The opening date has not been confirmed.

What kinds of townhouses are in the Hurontario area?

There are condo townhouse complexes, including several along Bristol Road East, and freehold and POTL towns on side streets, mostly built from the late 1980s onward.

Is the Hurontario area convenient for driving?

Yes. Highway 401 is very close, and the 403 and 410 are nearby, which makes it one of the easier Mississauga areas for driving commuters.
