Wynford, Sloane and O'Connor: Line 5 along the south edge
Line 5 Eglinton opened on February 8, 2026, and its on-street stops at Wynford, Sloane and O'Connor sit along Victoria Village's southern boundary. West of here the line drops underground at Don Valley station, the planned meeting point with the future Ontario Line, and continues to Line 1 at Eglinton and Cedarvale. East, it runs to Kennedy and the Stouffville GO line.
For townhouses near Eglinton, this is the first time the area has had rapid transit in walking distance. It's a surface LRT sharing intersections with traffic, so the trip downtown still involves a transfer. Time it at your actual commute hour before deciding how much it's worth to you.
Don Valley station, just west of Wynford, is planned as the point where the Ontario Line will meet Line 5, which would eventually give this corner a single transfer to a north-south subway running into downtown. That's a future benefit, not a current one, and it depends on the Ontario Line's schedule.
A bungalow interior with complexes around the rim
The land here was largely an orchard before a group of investors developed it in the 1950s. Most construction happened from the late 1950s through the 1960s, and the interior streets are still mostly bungalows with some semis and rebuilt two-storey houses.
Higher-density housing, including apartments and condominiums, was placed along Lawrence, Eglinton and Victoria Park. That's where most of the area's townhouse stock is too, typically in condominium complexes. Expect older construction, shared parking and a corporation responsible for exterior work.
Complexes on Lawrence and Victoria Park tend to be closer to shopping and buses, while those near Eglinton now sit nearest the LRT. Each edge has a different kind of traffic, and units facing a main road can feel very different from those facing an inner courtyard. When viewing, walk the whole site and note where the parking, the garbage area and the visitor spaces sit relative to the unit you're considering.
Ravine edges, wild apple trees and the Don
Some streets back onto the Don Valley, and the Charles Sauriol Conservation Reserve and Anewen Greenbelt give the west side a lot of green. Wild apple trees from the old orchard still grow in the valley near Anewen and Sweeney Drives. Wigmore Park is the main neighbourhood park, and the Victoria Village library branch sits at Sloane and Sweeney.
The Don Valley Parkway is close on the west side for drivers, with commercial buildings along it near Eglinton.
Before you offer on an older Victoria Village complex
- Ask when roofs, windows and siding were last replaced and whether a replacement program is coming.
- Check the reserve fund study for big items due in the next five to ten years.
- For units near the ravine, ask about drainage and any erosion work on the slope.
- For units on Eglinton, consider noise and activity along the LRT corridor, which differs from the quiet interior streets.
Who buys near the new Eglinton stops
Buyers who commute toward midtown or Kennedy can now do it by rail from the south edge of Victoria Village, which wasn't true before 2026. Families often prefer complexes near the interior streets and the ravine parks, where traffic is lighter. Downsizers from the bungalow streets sometimes move into a nearby townhouse to stay in the area without a yard to maintain. Investors tend to look closest to the LRT stops, where tenant demand is likeliest to be strongest; check any leasing rules in the declaration first.
