Older complexes, newer rows, and the questions that separate them

London South is the name the MLS® uses for the south end of London, Ontario, which takes in areas such as Summerside and White Oaks. Townhouses here range from older condominium complexes to newer freehold and condo townhouses in the parts of the south end that are still being built out.

Older complexes can be good value, but their age makes the reserve fund and recent big repairs, such as roofs, windows and decks, worth asking about before you get attached. In newer rows, the questions shift to parking, the size of the yard and whether a monthly fee applies at all. Our townhouse specialists ask both sets for you.

A question worth asking in LondonLondon is home to Western University and Fanshawe College, so some townhouses are bought as rentals. If you plan to rent one out, ask what the condo corporation’s rules say about leasing before you make an offer.
